In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it
Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users, and, we’re still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on people’s everyday lives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Wave’s growing talent team and make a real impact in shaping our technical hiring strategy.
As a Senior Technical Recruiter, you will play a key role in attracting and hiring top technical talent across Engineering, Product, Data, and Design while contributing to a mission-driven company that’s scaling organically. You’ll collaborate closely with hiring managers and senior stakeholders to develop and execute hiring strategies that build high-performing teams.

In this role, you'll;
- Own the full-cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and closing candidates for a variety of technical roles.
- Develop and implement innovative sourcing strategies to build strong pipelines of technical talent through online channels, networking, and events.
- Partner with hiring managers, including senior leadership, to deeply understand their teams’ needs and act as a trusted advisor on hiring strategies and best practices.
- Ensure an exceptional candidate experience by maintaining clear and timely communication throughout the hiring process.
- Conduct thorough interviews to assess technical skills, cultural alignment, and long-term fit within the organization.
- Track and analyze key recruiting metrics (e.g., conversion rates, passthrough rates, time-to-hire, offer acceptance rates) to optimize hiring processes and reporting continuously.
- Maintain clean, consistent, and accurate data in our ATS (Greenhouse) to support a data-driven recruiting approach.
- Drive diversity hiring initiatives, ensuring fair and inclusive recruiting practices that result in a diverse talent pipeline.
- Support interviewer training, hiring process improvements, and documentation to enhance the overall recruitment function.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience owning recruitment processes end-to-end.
- 4+ years of in-house recruiting experience with a strong focus on engineering, product, data science, and design hiring.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience partnering closely with senior leaders and hiring managers.
- Analytical mindset with experience using recruiting metrics and data to inform hiring strategies.
- Experience negotiating complex offers, and closing candidates.
- Proficiency in modern Applicant Tracking Systems (preferably Greenhouse) like Ashby, or Lever.
