The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be pivotal in solving some of the most challenging technical problems in a developer-first environment. You will be responsible for owning business requirements and delivering comprehensive solutions across the entire stack. You will work with a team of highly skilled engineers, using TypeScript with MERN + AWS, to build scalable and maintainable systems.

The Pay Range For This Role Is
200,000 - 250,000 AUD per year(Remote - Australia)

The Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be pivotal in solving some of the most challenging technical problems in a developer-first environment. You will be responsible for owning business requirements and delivering comprehensive solutions across the entire stack. You will work with a team of highly skilled engineers, using TypeScript with MERN + AWS, to build scalable and maintainable systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design of complex, scalable, and maintainable systems using TypeScript, Node.js, and React. Your designs should reflect deep architectural insights and robust engineering principles.
- Mentor and guide a team of engineers, providing expert technical direction, fostering a culture of excellence, and driving continuous improvement.
- Own and deliver features end-to-end, ensuring high-quality development in both the backend and frontend (70/30 split).
- Work closely with the product team to shape and refine new features, ensuring they are technically sound and aligned with business goals.
- Implement and uphold best practices for coding, testing, and deployment, ensuring that all code meets the highest standards of quality and maintainability.
- Drive key technical initiatives and improvements across the engineering team, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- 10+ years experience as a Software Engineer in a professional setting.
- Advanced understanding and hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js, React and related technologies.
- In-depth experience with AWS cloud services and MongoDB, including architecture, deployment, and management.
- Strong understanding of modern development practices, tools, and methodologies. Expertise in CI/CD, automated testing, and agile methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust software architectures that scale.
- Experience with functional programming languages is highly desirable.
- Currently holding a staff-level engineering role in a product-centric company.
- Extensive experience with advanced Node.js concepts such as worker threads, streams, and WebSockets.
- Exceptional skills in software design, capable of making significant and thoughtful contributions to architectural decisions.
- Proven track record of leading and inspiring high-performance engineering teams, with a focus on technical excellence and innovation.
- Thrives in the fast-paced environment of a startup, able to adapt quickly and efficiently.
- A strong interest in the cryptocurrency industry or a keen willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Passionate about coding and driving technical excellence.
